This food program began in December of 1996 and is still active and growing to this day. Their mission statement is, “To serve the client on a person-to-person basis to provide help, while maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those they serve.”
In addition to providing food for the less fortunate in our community, Our Lady of Lourdes also distributes pet food, personal hygiene products and offers SNAP signup assistance.
Households can receive assistance weekly, and home delivery is available if needed. Joanne Mazzarelli became Pantry Manager in 2008 and has been instrumental in the development of new programs within the pantry. With the help of 43 active volunteers, they reach out to approximately 500 people per week with the food pantry, as well as approximately 150 meals that are distributed on Friday mornings. Our Lady of Lourdes is also busy with a monthly breakfast as well as Holiday Brunches for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter for the public at no cost.
Our Lady Of Lourdes is one of just 3 food distribution programs in Volusia County on the beachside. They are always willing to assist Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida in any way to help feed more families in need.
