The first Saturday of each month, First Pentecostal Church (FPC) staff and 25 volunteers come out to Trinity Towers South to pack bags of nonperishable food items for seniors in need.
Volunteers pack 170 bags and deliver them directly to each resident’s apartment – a blessing because many of the residents have limited resources due to lack of transportation, functional limitations or health problems. Each resident receives 9 meals or more each month, allowing them to use more of their money on other essentials like much needed prescriptions.
FPC has been a partner with Second Harvest Food Bank since 2007. In addition to their senior feeding program, they will also be operating four summer feeding sites in South Brevard this year, with an estimated reach of 3,500 children in a 10 mile radius.
