On Friday May 4th Provision Packs from Ormond Beach Florida in Volusia County, hosted their first mobile drop at Holly Hill Elementary School . They distributed 31,000 lbs of food for 248 families, 961 people including 367 children. The drop was a drive thru where families drove up to the distribution site where their cars where loaded with free groceries to help those in need in the Holly Hill area.
Not only did families receive much needed food, they were also given flowers, employment information and resources and children’s clothing
Provisions Packs partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank, Holly Hill Police Department, Volusia County Sheriffs Department, several area churches and businesses who volunteered to assist at the drop.
Provision Packs currently serves 270 bags of food to students in need every Friday at 5 Volusia County Schools. Their goal is to serve 500 students in need weekly this fall. Carrie Torres, founder of Provision Packs, hopes she will be able to provide more drops in the future with help from Second Harvest Food Bank and community volunteers. “We just want to take care of each other as a community, Carrie said while gesturing to a cluster of volunteers that day. “It really does take a Village”
